External Filters

External aquarium filters are one of the best external filters you can buy for medium to large fish tanks. An external aquarium filter system uses a multi-stage layered approach to filtration, separating a number of distinct filter external materials into easy access baskets they can filter a large volume of water efficiently, you can use any filter media you wish and the maintenance is very low. Because our external cannister filters return water to the tank through a spray bar it will reduce evaporation and current as well as increasing your fish tank aeration which can be vital to the health of your aquarium tank water. Some of our models include a UV Sterilizer built in which combined with the filter offers great practicality as well as excellent value for money. Hang On Filters Our hang on aquarium filters provide mechanical and biological filtration using carbon and foam blocks for both fresh and salt water fish tank aquariums. These fish tank filters provide excellent water surface movement that aids oxygen levels within your tank which will contribute to your fish's health. We also stock fish tank accessories and spare parts for all of our filters. Internal Filters All Pond solutions IF range of aquarium internal filters are designed to suit most small to medium sized fish tanks or even to compliment an external filter on a large aquarium tank. An internal fish tank filter will help to ensure that your fish live in good quality water conditions as well as being able to contribute to essential water movement. All of these fish tank pump filters come with a venturi aeration nozzle to create bubbles and increase oxygen levels of returning water to your tank. There are sizes availbale to suit all aquarium fish tanks up to 600 Litre tanks as above that more than one unit will be required. Replacement filter foams and filter pads are available for all aquarium filter models from our aquarium accessories section Undergravel Filters Undergravel filters consist of plastic filter plates which are like grates that lie under the gravel of your fish tank. These plates allow water to flow freely under the gravel. Water is drawn through the gravel (which acts as a mechanical and biological filter) by the use of either a power head which will pump water out of the top of the lift tube and into the tank or an air pump which will blow bubbles at the bottom of the lift tubes and the bubbles will lift water up the lift tube and into the tank. As water is moved out of the lift tube, it is replaced with water from under the filter plate, which in turn pulls water through the gravel where it is cleaned. The gravel it self provides mechanical filtration by catching large free-floating particles. The gravel, as well as the filter plate, tank bottom, and lift tubes, provide a bed for the bacteria of a biological filter. Under gravel filters primarily provide biological filtration.
